May is national “Older Americans Month,” and this year also marks the 50th anniversary of the Older Americans Act, which President Lyndon B. Johnson signed into law in July 1965. Historically, Older Americans Month has been a time to acknowledge the contributions of past and current older persons to our country, in particular, those who defended our country.
Older Americans Month also provides an opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of community engagement as a tool for enhancing the wellbeing of older adults.
